Austin is the state capital of Texas, an inland city bordering the Hill Country region. Home to the University of Texas flagship campus, Austin is known for its eclectic live-music scene centered around country, blues and rock. Its many parks and lakes are popular for hiking, biking, swimming and boating. The Austin, TX Qualifier was one of 51 World Cup Qualifiers held in 31 Nations around the World! Players from North, South, and Central America… as well as the Caribbean… descended upon Austin to Qualify; for some it was their LAST chance to earn a SPOT at the Mecano Sports 2024 Ping Pong World Cup. Due to enthusiasm, a Qualifier to try and Qualify was created on the Friday night before. Needless to say… locals enjoyed Rudy’s BBQ, Lonestar Beer, and FREE sandpaper bats and Hardbat compliments of Butterfly NA, Martin Kilpatrick, and MLTT! In two thrilling matches – Butler defeated Carney in Sandpaper while AJ finally ousted Butler in the Hardbat final!
